Snapshot

Since 1994, I have been helping financial advisors evolve to higher value business models. I entered the financial services industry in 1984 as an account executive with Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith. While in production I formed one of the first horizontal teams in 1987 and participated in focus groups that led to Merrill's first financial planning service. In 1989, I became a regional manager for Merrill Lynch Business Financial Services where I had the opportunity to train financial advisors in the areas of investment management consulting and qualified retirement plans.
In 1991, I joined Harris Bretall Sullivan and Smith as the managing director for the Southeastern US. During that time, I helped hundreds of financial advisors at Dean Witter, Kidder Peabody, Paine Webber and Prudential Securities develop their fee-based managed accounts business. In 1994, I formed Paragon Resources, one of the industry's first practice management consultancies. In that role, I coached and trained thousands of advisors in the United States and Canada in the areas of business optimization, client advocacy, practice management and team building.

Unconventional WisdomFrom 1994 to 2004 Unconventional Wisdom, the title of this website, was the name of my newsletter. It was in that publication that many of the articles, papers and conceptual models found on this website first appeared. From there, they made their way into various trade journals, presentations and training programs. Many of my concepts and models have been "re-purposed" by countless individuals over the years so don't be surprised if you get that déjà vu feeling as you browse through the site.
I retired my newsletter several years ago and have since replaced it with my SLOG, which is called Ramble On but the content is as unconventional as ever. Thank you for visiting my website. |
